Chiropractic care for pregnancy in Boise

Care that keeps pace with your pregnancy

Sway is a small chiropractic practice in Boise’s North End for pregnant patients. Each visit is slow, explained first and shaped by where you are in your pregnancy. Your midwife or OB stays in charge of your care.

Questions first

What most people ask before they book

The short answers. The full list is on the FAQ page.

What happens at the first visit?

We talk first: how your pregnancy is going, what has changed in how you sit, stand and sleep, and what you want from a visit. Then a short, gentle exam, and an explanation of what we found and what we would suggest. Nothing happens until you say yes, and you can stop at any point. Plan on about 45 minutes.

Is chiropractic care during pregnancy safe?

Every kind of care has risks. Soreness after an adjustment is common and usually short. Rare serious problems have been reported after chiropractic care. We explain the risks before you decide, we use positions and pillows made for pregnancy, and your midwife or OB knows you are seeing us. Ask them first. If you are told to avoid chiropractic care, we will not treat you.

Will it hurt?

Most people feel pressure and movement, not pain, and some feel sore the next day. Pregnancy changes how you lie down, so we use side-lying and pillow positions and keep adjustments light. Tell us at any point and we change what we are doing.

How many visits will I need?

Dr. Das sets a plan with you after the first exam and changes it as your pregnancy changes. We do not promise a number of visits, and you can stop at any time.

Do you take my insurance?

Some plans pay for part of a chiropractic visit and some do not, and a plan can treat pregnancy differently. We bill some plan types; the how fees work page explains what we bill, what you can ask your plan and how to get a written estimate.

A visit, by trimester

What a visit is like as your pregnancy changes

  1. 01

    Step 1: First trimester

Short visits and a lot of talking. We ask how you are feeling, look at how you sit, stand and move, and adjust only what you are comfortable with.

  2. 02

    Step 2: Second trimester

Your body is changing fast. Visits add movement guidance for sitting, sleeping and carrying, and gentle adjusting on your side with pillows or on a table made for pregnancy.

  3. 03

    Step 3: Third trimester

Visits get shorter and slower, with side-lying positions. Webster technique, a method for the pelvis, is one we can describe and use if you want it. We make no claim about birth.

  4. 04

    Step 4: After the birth

We wait until your midwife or physician says you can come, then book a gentle first visit when you feel ready.

Your care team

Ask your midwife or OB first

Before you book, ask the person who looks after your pregnancy whether chiropractic care is right for you.

If they say wait, we wait. If they say yes, we are glad to work alongside them, and with your written permission we send a short note after your first visit. We do not treat anything about your pregnancy itself; that stays with them.

Webster, described

A technique, not a promise

Webster is a chiropractic technique that looks at the pelvis and the sacrum, with light contact and soft-tissue work around them.

We describe it so you can decide. It is not a treatment for labor, for birth or for the way a baby lies, and we make no claim that it changes either. Some patients like it, some prefer plain movement guidance, and either is a good answer.
