Questions about pregnancy care

Is chiropractic care during pregnancy safe?

Every kind of care has risks. Soreness after an adjustment is common and usually short. Rare serious problems have been reported after chiropractic care. We explain the risks before you decide, we use positions and pillows made for pregnancy, and your midwife or OB knows you are seeing us. Ask them first. If you are told to avoid chiropractic care, we will not treat you.

Will it hurt?

Most people feel pressure and movement, not pain, and some feel sore the next day. Pregnancy changes how you lie down, so we use side-lying and pillow positions and keep adjustments light. Tell us at any point and we change what we are doing.

What if I already see a midwife, an OB or a doula?

That is who we expect you to see. With your written permission we send them a short note after your first visit. They stay in charge of your pregnancy care, and we work alongside them.

Not sure which visit you need?

Tell us where you are in your pregnancy and we will suggest one.

  • A sudden severe headache or neck pain, dizziness, trouble speaking or seeing, new weakness or numbness, numbness in the groin or saddle area (between the legs and buttocks), or new bladder or bowel trouble needs emergency care now. Call 911 or go to an emergency room.
